Student's Clubs
AAB HPHS ASB- Student Government/Leadership
Advisor: Ms. Alair
The leadership program gives students an opportunity to plan and organize student activities on campus. Students learn valuable leadership lessons through practical, hands-on experience by planning dances and other spirit activities. Student body elections are held each May. Students must have a 2.7 GPA to run for office.
Anime Club (Japanese Cartoons)
Advisor: Mrs. Shatraw
Students share their passion for the art of Japanese animation in this cutting edge club. Students meet at lunch and watch the latest Japanese animated features, and also share in their love of “manga,” or Japanese comic books.
Cheerleading Club
Advisor: Ms. Washington
Students try out for a position on the AAB HPHS cheer team each September. The cheerleaders are a fun part of our great school spirit. Cheerleaders have the opportunity to perform at school assemblies, rallies, cheer competitions, and at sporting events.
Dance Club
Advisor: Ms. Washington
Our award winning dance team is the pride of AAB HPHS. Auditions for the dance team are held each September. The dance team practices after school and performs at all school-wide assemblies, rallies and lunchtime events. The dance team has received awards in local cheer competitions.
Drama Club
Advisor: Ms. Stanley
The drama club puts on two plays per year- one in the fall and one in the spring. They have achieved great success with each performance and continue to improve. Members of the drama club also have the opportunity to attend local dramatic and musical productions in and around Sacramento.
Dare to Influence Student Forum
Advisor: Ms. Stanley
We discuss important social issues and come up with ways to influence our peers in a positive way. We want to be leaders in creating a safe and healthy campus that is diverse and inclusive.
HOSA: Health Occupation Students of America
Advisor: Ms. Meltvedt
HOSA members strengthen their leadership and citizenship abilities through interaction with professional, business and other student organizations. HOSA members are involved in community-oriented, career-related and leadership development activities. Students from all local chapters may choose to attend regional and statewide conferences for leadership training and chapter management workshops. Participation in HOSA competitive events test and recognize students’ competencies and related skills in various health occupations.
Japanese Club
Advisors: Mrs. Alair
Japanese club members take a college-level approach to the study of written and oral Japanese. Students meet weekly at lunchtime meetings with qualified instructors. In addition to a serious academic approach, students enjoy studying Japanese culture, history, business and medicine. The long-term goal of the club is to take a trip to Japan to visit Japanese hospitals.
Latino Club
Advisor: Mr. Perez
Our Latino club has a strong presence on campus. They are dedicated to promoting Latino culture and bringing students together to celebrate their culture. Students attend the annual Sacramento Latino Conference, and participate in cultural events at school where they perform traditional Latino dancing and music.
Martial Arts Club
Advisor: Mr. Cabe
Our Martial Arts club is a new and exciting club that meets regularly after school. They are deeply committed to the study and performance of a variety of martial arts. Combining the serious training of martial arts with the “show biz” pizzazz of their members, the Martial Arts club has performed at lunchtime events, the annual multicultural night show, and school assemblies.

Rock Music Club

The Rock Music Club has lunchtime meetings where they share their love for rock music. They study the music, artists (musicians, bands), lifestyle, and heritage of the music. Members participate in conversations about music and bring in new ideas and perspectives on the history of rock music
Soccer Club
Advisor: Mr. Webster & Ms. Le Sieur
The Soccer Club supports the operation of the Soccer team. The co-ed team participates in team training and conditioning. competitive games with other clubs are played at Metro In-Door Soccer Arena.
Spicy Food Club
Advisor: Mr. Saetern
Sharing spices and recipes from around the world.
Yearbook Club
Advisor: Ms. Le Sieur and Mr. Drawdy
Students will organize and collaborate in putting together the school’s annual Life Touch yearbook publication. They will take pictures, organize their pages and then submit their work by the assigned deadlines. They will also contribute short writing assignments to the SideTracks section of the SacBee on a bi-weekly basis. Students are also responsible for collecting and announcing the Daily Jag.
